Experience

He graduated from Tianjin University with a master's degree in materials science in 1986.

He was a visiting researcher at the Institute of Inorganic Materials, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan from 1991 to 1993, .

He received his Ph.D. from the University of Tokyo, Japan In 1996.

He was selected into the preliminary list of candidates for co-election of Academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences on July 31, 2015.

He was elected an academician of the Department of Technical Sciences of the Chinese Academy of Sciences on December 7, 2015.

He was elected member of the Academy of Sciences of Developing Countries in March 2018,.

Major achievements

He has been engaged in research on material physics, material chemistry and new energy for a long time Rev. Lett.、 JACS、 Adv. Mater.、 Energy Environ. Sci.、Adv. Funct. Mater. More than 200 papers have been published in international first-class journals, and more than 60 Chinese invention patents have been applied, 30 of which have been authorized; In addition, it has obtained 2 Japanese patents and 1 American patent.

He has undertaken many scientific research projects, such as the National Major Basic Research Program 973, the National High Technology Research and Development Program 863, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Natural Science Foundation China Japan Cooperation Program, the Ministry of Science and Technology International Cooperation Major Program (China Japan JST-MOST), the Ministry of Education Science and Technology Research Major Program, and Jiangsu Province High Technology Program. As the first person to complete the project, he won the first prize of 2012 Jiangsu Science and Technology Award. At the same time, it also has extensive cooperation with the business community, including well-known enterprises at home and abroad, such as Corning, Sony, CEPV, etc. In addition, he served as the executive director of China Instrument Society, China Materials Society, China Functional Materials Society and other domestic first-class societies.

Main Research Achievements

(1) The discovery of a new superconducting material PrBa2Cu3Ox and the explanation of the superconducting mechanism. Professor Zou Zhigang used the improved TSFZ method to synthesize the single crystal of PrBa2Cu3Ox superconductor for the first time in the world, and measured the physical properties at the limit state (high pressure, low temperature), to explore the superconductivity of the material from different angles and study its superconductivity mechanism. (2) Development of visible light photocatalytic materials and their applications in hydrogen production from water photolysis and environmental purification. Professor Zou applied the design method, experience and knowledge of crystalline physics materials obtained in the field of oxide superconductors to the field of photocatalysis, and developed new photocatalyst materials with visible light activity. In1-XNiXTaO4 catalyst with visible light activity was found in the world for the first time and was applied to photolysis of water to produce hydrogen. On this basis, a series of visible light active catalysts were successfully developed, such as AVO4 (A=In, rare earth), (In2O3) m (BaO) n and other new photocatalyst materials. At the same time, new breakthroughs have been made in environmental purification. A series of visible light active catalysts such as CaIn2O4 and BiWO6 have been successfully developed, which can effectively decompose harmful and toxic substances under visible light.
